Music News: Diddy’s Last Train To Paris

Diddy Boards Train for Movie, Album Release…

https://i0.wp.com/www.hiphoproll.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/diddy08-29-200712-04pm.png

It’s official: Diddy has boarded the crazy music train.

The king of hype has taken the art to a new level, announcing plans to release the high-concept album Last Train to Paris this fall, a would-be “electro-hip-hop soul funk” masterpiece that culminates in a love-seeking Eurail journey from London to Paris.

“I’m ushering in a new movement called ‘train music,’ ” the rapper turned wannabe-serious actor said.

“Last Train to Paris is deeper than any of the stuff I have made. It’s a profound love story. It’s me with my shades off. It’s the truth.”

It’s also coming part and parcel with a movie version of the album, starring—who else?—Diddy himself.

Trapped in the Closet‘s got nothing on him.

Combs told MTV News this week that the album will not be a solo effort, instead will be a group endeavor comprised of Diddy and two as-yet-unnamed female bandmates. The arc will follow Diddy‘s character as he tours overseas and finds the woman of his dreams—only to lose her, find her, lose her again and, (spoiler alert?) find her a final time.

“We get together, she’s attached to my hip…I tell her to come to New York, Miami, all the places where I get it poppin’, where I really do s—t,” he said. “You know how men pop s—t like men do sometimes when they’re trying to make a woman fall in love.”

The duo experiences a misunderstanding and parts ways again.

“So, I go on tour, and I’m in London,” the storyboarder extraordinaire told MTV News. “I get a tip that she’s in Paris, and it’s 9:45 p.m. or something. It’s one of the foggiest days in London, so I can’t take my plane. I can’t drive, the road is shut down. The only way I can get there is the last train to Paris…

“It’s that whole intensity of what happens on the train ride—and will she be there when I get there—is something else you’ll hear.”

Diddy is expected to go into production on the accompanying movie in May, though was quick to rebut claims that this would be his Purple Rain.

“It’s not like I’m playing Prince and s—t,” he said.

The album, due out Sept. 22, will be Diddy’s first since 2007’s Press Play and features collaborations with producers the Neptunes, T-Pain, Rodney Jerkins, Tricky and The-Dream, among other hot shots.

“I’ve been a businessman for the past two years. It’s time for me to focus on being an artist again. I am going to show the world a new refreshing side of me. Get on or get off!”

Wire Talk: Chris Brown And Rihanna Reunited?

According to MediaTakeOut.com, Rihanna and Chris Brown are back together or may have never even broken up.

This is what they had to say…

This week, 5 US gossip magazines are claiming that Chris and Rihanna are either GETTING BACK TOGETHER or NEVER ACTUALLY broke up.

Here’s the National Enquirer:

”Even after what Chris did to her, Rihanna is crazy about him and she’s forgiven him … They’ve been talking on the phone, and they’ve agreed that once the legal problems are ironed out, they’ll be together.”

Here’s Star Magazine:

”[Rihanna] has reached out to [Chris] on numerous occasions, both calling and texting him with the message: Miss you, Love, peace and hope u r ok’ … She keeps saying she wants to make sure that he’s okay. She thinks this will all blow over and they can go back to how they were.”

Here’s Life & Style:

”[Rihanna] loves Chris but she wants to send the right message to fans by what she says publicly and how she handles the relationship … But she loves him – and may want to work things out.”

In Touch claims that they’re speaking and still in love, but not back together yet:

”She hates Chris but still loves him at the same time … [they] spoke a few times since the incident, and they’ve relayed messages back and forth through a friend.”

Here’s US Weekly:

Rihanna seems surprisingly torn, to the exasperation of many. “I mean damn, her eye’s black and the sides of her face are all f_cked up, “says a friend. “But she keeps saying she loves him … [and] she’s telling everyone that she’s sorry, though it’s not her fault … She’s actually worried about HIS life? What prison will do to him? Come On!”

We don’t know how true all this is … but unfortunately MediaTakeOut.com’s sources are saying the same thing.

Developing…

Celebrity News: John Legend Speaks Out About NY Post Cartoon!

https://i0.wp.com/images.eonline.com/eol_images/Entire_Site/20090220/425.ad.NyPost.JohnLegend.022009.jpg

John Legend is one of few artists who have vocally stood up to the New York Post for this Tuesday’s mess of an illustration. Will anyone else join the cause and let their voices be heard? Jay-Z, Kanye West, T.I., or Diddy?

Check out the letter below and speak on it in the comments section:

Dear Editor:

I’m trying to understand what possible motivation you may have had for publishing that vile cartoon depicting the shooting of the chimpanzee that went crazy. I guess you thought it would be funny to suggest that whomever was responsible for writing the Economic Recovery legislation must have the intelligence and judgment of a deranged, violent chimpanzee, and should be shot to protect the larger community. Really? Did it occur to you that this suggestion would imply a connection between President Barack Obama and the deranged chimpanzee? Did it occur to you that our President has been receiving death threats since early in his candidacy? Did it occur to you that blacks have historically been compared to various apes as a way of racist insult and mockery? Did you intend to invoke these painful themes when you printed the cartoon?

If that’s not what you intended, then it was stupid and willfully ignorant of you not to connect these easily connectable dots. If it is what you intended, then you obviously wanted to be grossly provocative, racist and offensive to the sensibilities of most reasonable Americans. Either way, you should not have printed this cartoon, and the fact that you did is truly reprehensible. I can’t imagine what possible justification you have for this. I’ve read your lame statement in response to the outrage you provoked. Shame on you for dodging the real issue and then using the letter as an opportunity to attack Rev. Sharpton. This is not about Rev. Sharpton. It’s about the cartoon being blatantly racist and offensive.

I believe in freedom of speech, and you have every right to print what you want. But freedom of speech still comes with responsibilities and consequences. You are responsible for printing this cartoon, and I hope you experience some real consequences for it. I’m personally boycotting your paper and won’t do any interviews with any of your reporters, and I encourage all of my colleagues in the entertainment business to do so as well. I implore your advertisers to seriously reconsider their business relationships with you as well.

You should print an apology in your paper acknowledging that this cartoon was ignorant, offensive and racist and should not have been printed.

I’m well aware of our country’s history of racism and violence, but I truly believe we are better than this filth. As we attempt to rise above our difficult past and look toward a better future, we don’t need the New York Post to resurrect the images of Jim Crow to deride the new administration and put black folks in our place. Please feel free to criticize and honestly evaluate our new President, but do so without the incendiary images and rhetoric.

Sincerely,
John Legend

“I think this cartoon is straight wrong and not funny. I think NY Post should get in trouble for doing this. This cartoon is not a joke, this is a serious matter and racist. What are your thoughts on this issue?”

Just In: Rihanna is Doing Well and Remaining Strong

Rihanna

Rihanna should have been celebrating her 21st birthday yesterday. Instead, the Barbadian songbird is lying low in Los Angeles and staying strong.

Her camp finally broke radio silence and issued a statement to fans.

“At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown,” her publicist says in a statement.

“She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong, is doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time.” It’s the first statement since her rep said Rihanna was “well” in the hours following her alleged altercation with Brown on Feb. 8.

After a trip to Barbados to be with her family and friends, Rihanna surfaced thursday night, photographed in the L.A. area for the first time since the purported roadside blowup.

In the pics, she is wearing sunglasses and sitting in the back seat of a car. Two unidentified men, a driver and passenger, are in the front seat and another woman is sitting behind the “Umbrella” singer.

As I first told you, Rihanna‘s record label canceled plans to throw her a birthday party in NYC. The soiree for about 200 guests was to have had a carnival theme with various “sideshow” attractions. The deal wasn’t finalized, but it was probably going to happen at Gotham Hall.

“Rihanna seems really sad and down in this photo. I can’t wait to see her perform again.”

Just In: Rihanna’s Dad Speaks Out About LAPD Photo Leak

Rihanna’s dad is speaking out about the alleged sale of his daughter’s police evidence photo.

While Rihanna has been in Barbados with her friends and family recovering, her father couldn’t keep quiet about the leaked photo of his daughter after her February 8 incident with Chris Brown. He described the photo as “terrible.”

“Yeah, I saw it. It’s disturbing,” Ronald Fenty said after seeing a picture of a female, who appears to be Rihanna, with bruises and cuts on her forehead, lips and cheeks. Fenty thinks that after people see the photo they will be able to “grasp the situation a lot better.”

“Sloppy work on their part,” Fenty told People about the Los Angeles Police Department’s handling of the case on Friday.

The LAPD is currently conducting an internal investigation on the leaked photo, which emerged on TMZ on Thursday night and quickly spread across the Web.

“The photograph has the appearance of one taken during an official Domestic Violence investigation,” the LAPD told Access Hollywood in a statement. “The Los Angeles Police Department takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of victims of domestic violence. The Department launched an immediate internal investigation and subsequently filed a personnel complaint.”

And while today is the singer’s birthday, her father was unaware of any plans to celebrate.

“There’s no party that I know of,” he told People.
