Just In: LAPD Still “Vigorously” Investigating Rihanna Photo Leak

The Los Angeles Police Department is still trying to plug its leak.

The internal investigation launched last week into who provided TMZ.com with a photo of Rihanna that was taken after she was allegedly assaulted by Chris Brown is still underway, E! News confirmed Tuesday.

“They said they were looking into it vigorously,” LAPD spokesman Lt. John Romero said, referring to a statement made by an Internal Affairs commander at a meeting earlier in the day.

Romero was unwilling to divulge further details about investigative procedure.

“We are not talking about the protocols because it will relate to this investigation,” he said.

Per protocol, the LAPD has not formally identified Rihanna as the victim of what transpired between her and Brown on the morning of Feb. 8. In announcing the investigation into the leak, authorities would only say that the photo appeared to have been taken “during an official domestic violence investigation.”

“A violation of this type is considered serious misconduct, with penalties up to and including termination,” police said.

Jermaine Dupri is out with a new venture. What could that be? Well, the music mogul is out with a line of watches called the Pop-Watch Collection. JD attended MAGIC showing off the new collection. According to the official press release, the watches will range from $120 to $290 and will be available online and in department stores in the near future. Jermaine has personally been working with the jewelry designer Pascal Mouawad for over a year putting his heart and soul into the designs.

Tune In: Jermaine Dupri is a Judge on New TV Show?

It’s hard to find a job these days, and after Jermaine Dupri’s up and down relationship with his former employer, you might be concerned that money, at some point, might become a “thang,” resulting in him purchasing fewer new whips and such.

Thankfully, the CBS Early Show has decided to help out, tapping him to judge its “Singing Family Showdown“—and he’s not going to be a pushover. When host Harry Smith asked how “psyched” he was for the forthcoming competition, Dupri answered, “I mean, I want to see it. I work with kids all the time. I’ll be the one that’s a little tough on them.”

Wire Talk: Chris Brown and Rihanna: Still In Love?

Rihanna is considering taking Chris Brown back.

The “Umbrella” star is reportedly thinking about rekindling her romance with Chris, who is accused of assaulting her, after he bombarded her with gifts for her 21st birthday.

The 19-year-old singer sent Rihanna a host of presents including an iPod and diamond necklace and bracelet and also phoned her during her low-key party on Friday.

A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: “Chris called Rihanna to wish her a happy birthday. He’s absolutely trying to get back into her good graces. He knows he’s very much in the doghouse right now, and is doing everything he can to show her how sorry he is.

“Despite Rihanna’s friends being against the reunion, the “Barbados-born beauty” is feeling lonely without Chris.

The source added: “Rihanna so wanted Chris with her on her big day, but obviously realizes why they can’t be together right now. But it’s becoming more and more clear that she can’t be without him.” Despite her recent troubles, the “Shut Up and Drive” singer managed to enjoy her casino-themed birthday party, held at a rented Hollywood house, and appears to be recovering from the facial injuries she sustained in the alleged attack.

The source said: “She hasn’t scarred or anything. She was in a great mood. She was really celebrating not just her birthday, but life in general.”

“Her theme was ‘Blackjack 21′ and all the guests gambled. And although there was alcohol available, Rihanna wasn’t drinking.” Rihanna is now believed to be in Barbados spending time with her family.

According to The Media Buffet, the photo of a beaten and bruised Rihanna after the alleged Chris Brown attack, cost about $62,500. So, TMZ just paid the law enforcement officer double his usual salary. Right now, the LAPD are investigating the leak of the photo, because it is a total invasion of privacy to the domestic violence victim.

As if it weren’t bad enough that Rihanna’s privacy was just invaded by a bunch of uncaring, selfish people, it’s not as bad as this. Apparently, Chris Brown could walk free.

An LAPD source says, “Brown, even if guilty, could walk free because of the unauthorized release of this photo.”

Rapper, Bow Wow is one of the many people shocked and saddened by this drama involving Chris Brown, who is said to have assaulted Rihanna. At first, he thought it was just more ridiculous rumors, created by people who need a good story. But like most of us, it was a shock when the story got deeper.

He says, “I mean, being in the business, the first thing is ‘ah, it’s false, another rumor, bloggers just wanting to have traffic to their site,’. But when the story was unfolding, it was kind of shocking to all. Chris is a good friend of mine. We’ve had the opportunity to tour together. And then Rihanna, she’s just a beautiful person. Period. Never done no wrong to nobody.”

The rapper says that they just need to be left alone to deal with their issues. “At the end of the day I’ve always believed in whatever happens with people’s business…my mom always told me don’t get into. And the situation is so major I think they just need their space and I think they need to deal with it.”

He relates to them, seeing as he knows what it feels like to be in a relationship that the media is interested in. “I’ve been in a high profile relationship before and I know how it feels when everybody’s in your business. It just puts more pressure. And the only way they’re going to get over the situation is just to let them deal with it. And that’s what I really want to do. I’m praying for them both.”

When asked about what he thought of the leaked photo of Rihanna, bruised and swollen after the assault, he describes it as “Just shocking. I mean we heard what happened but we really didn’t get a visual for it. But I mean hey, man. The picture speaks for itself.”

According to “Saturday Night Live” man, Keenan Thompson, Chris Brown could still perform on future episodes of “SNL”, regardless of allegations that he beat Rihanna.

Keenan says, “It’s not up to me, but I’m sure we would if he had another hit single. We don’t care about scandal. We just care about what brings us ratings!”

Speaking of Rihanna and Chris he says, “If we had them both on the show, that would be crazy.”

He says, the assault is “an unfortunate situation. I don’t know the whole story, but I know how women can get when you get a text message from another female, so I’m just saying, you have to learn that you can’t put your hands on a female.”

Thompson says, “He’s a big dude. He’s not a little dude.”

♦ Then, Flo Rida was asked if he had a message for pop star Rihanna…

He says, “Definitely. Her and Chris Brown- I met them and they are both great people. They definitely give music a good name because they are very talented. Preferably they can put aside their differences and get back to making hot music.”

Rapper, Paul Wall was interviewed recently and asked about what he thought about the leaked photo of Rihanna after she’s been allegedly beaten by Chris Brown.
He tells Rap-Up,“I saw the picture and read all the blog comments. I’m like, ‘Damn, that’s just bad.’ I hope she’s alright. I hate to get into other people’s business; whatever happened between them, that’s between them, but I just hope they both can come to a positive conclusion and that something positive can come out of it.”

The family man continues to say, “It’s just sad to see any kind of violence in a relationship. Being such young superstars, they have the world ahead of them both. I just hope that she’s alright. I didn’t see no marks on [Chris], so I’m pretty sure he’s alright.”
