Bruno Mars is not the first artist to be caught with cocaine – or “booger sugar” as TMZ refers to it – and he damn sure won’t be the last. Buddy may not even be the last artist to get caught with it this year if Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan have any say. I just hope Bruno, and anybody else out there doing nose candy, somehow manage to keep their lives in tact to the point they’re not on E! True Hollywood Stories in five years. If that show still even comes on.
Regardless, this guy has been one of the freshest additions in the music industry in a good while and a personal favorite since I was put on towards the beginning of this year. I’ve yet to really speak on the song, but “Just The Way You Are” has one of those timeless feels to it. It’s a record not exclusive to any generation and one any age bracket can find the silver lining in. Truth is, pop records tend to have a long shelf life. It will probably still end up getting played at proms next spring and if you can convince your grandparents to give it a listen they may even crack a smile in approval.
Nah, I’m not calling it a “classic” at the moment, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s played at weddings and in movies for years to come. Labeling the record a Valentine’s Day anthem isn’t too far fetched either. Mars just makes great crossover music. His album ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ is set to be released on October 5 and I fully expect it to be one of the years’ best come December 31, 2010. And if it is, those coke charges…well, what coke charges?

Ne-Yo’s back again! Here is the brand new collabo. Ne-Yo teamed up with Fabolous on another track for us ladies, off his new album, ‘Libra Scale’. This track was leaked last week. and is titled, “Crazy Love,” and it is produced by Ryan Leslie. This is also the only track with a feature off ‘Libra Scale’, which will hit stores October 19th.
The beat is quite similar to one of Ne-Yo’s earlier hits – “Sexy Love” – and it works well with the vocal arrangement and winding melodies.
Furthermore, while Fabolous’ verse was somewhat mediocre, it did not take away from the song in any way. But as a lady myself, I can appreciate Ne-Yo laying down his vocals to finish off this song. I’m a big fan of both Ne-Yo and Fabolous. They make great chemistry. Once again a very good collaboration.
Check out new artist Nikki Grier who is a singer/songwriter who has worked with major artists such as 50 Cent, Eminem, and currently Dre. “Downtown” is her sexual single about you-know-what, the song is nice it features Rapper Busta Rhymes. The album cover looks really sexy. I guess you can say it goes well with the song.
This is a new amazing song titled “When Does It Go Away” by American Pop/R&B singer, JoJo featuring Travis Garland. The song is taken from her latest ‘Cant Take That Away from Me’ mixtape released exclusively to Rap-Up.com on September 7, 2010. She will be releasing her third studio album ‘All I Want Is Everything’ early 2011.
Like stages of grief, there are stages of processing an M.I.A. video. First there’s a kind of dumbfounded, eyebrow-raising befuddlement as you wonder whether you’re actually watching a music video or not. Then there’s the moment where you say to yourself, “I can’t believe this is M.I.A.’s new music video. I am surprised. It is not a traditional music video, that’s for sure.” Or something of that nature.
Then you feel weird because you realize you were talking to yourself out loud about M.I.A. videos when you were supposed to be working or studying or whatever.
Then! Then something strange happens. You become kind of intoxicated by M.I.A.‘s whole subversion of the generic music video, and eventually, whether you “like” it (because, in a way, M.I.A. doesn’t really care if you like it or not), you become sort of entranced by it.
So, here we have M.I.A.‘s video for “Story To Be Told,” from her recent album, ‘Born Free.’M.I.A. has been nice enough to set up a little website where the clip is streaming. What will you find there? Oh you know, the usual… Psychedelic, late-’90s Internet visuals that employ a similar motif to her album cover, and lyrics, rendered in the style of one of those Captcha identity certification programs. Totally normal. Just like making a video about rounding up and killing redheads (which was the theme of M.I.A.’s “Born Free” video).

Singer Ne-Yo says he’s having a baby girl with his girlfriend, Monyetta Shaw, and they have narrowed down a name for her. He is also child proofing his apartment and buying new vehicles to accommodate his new lifestyle.
He tells the NY Post:
NE-YO is making big plans for the daughter his girlfriend, Monyetta Shaw, is expecting in January. The couple is leaning toward naming her Madeline. The R&B singer also told Page Six at Denise Rich’s apartment he recently bought a Porsche Cayenne and Porsche Panamera, since both have room for baby seats, and redecorated his home. “That’s all I need is little Madeline to push a sculpture down on her head. Can’t have that.” NE-YO and Rich are working together on his Compound Foundation for foster teens. Ne-Yo will perform at Rich’s Angel Ball for Cancer Research on Oct. 21.
Fresh off his arrest on cocaine possession, Bruno Mars heads to the liquor store with Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley on a new reggae-flavored track from his debut album ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’. The hitmaker looks for a quick escape from his bad fortune in an odd foreshadowing of events. “I’ll take one shot for my pain, one drag for my sorrow, get messed up today, I’ll be OK tomorrow,” he sings.
