All On The Cover: Rihanna Covers GQ British Magazine

Rihanna covers the January 2011 issue of GQ British Magazine! In her interview she reveals about how she has grown as a woman, how people may perceive her new image and new album, as well her new feeling of liberation and freedom following her past relationship and break-up.

“Sometimes when you’re on the inside of a relationship like that, you can’t see it clearly for what it is. “I left – it was the best feeling. It was so freeing.”

She admitted to the struggles with past decisions, especially after swearing never to let a man touch her after seeing her mum Monica suffer domestic violence.

She confessed…

“I witnessed it happening to my mum and I said I would never let that happen to me – and then it was happening. “Now, when I look back, it bugs me out that I couldn’t see it for what it was.”

R&B singer Chris Brown, as you may all know attacked Rihanna in his car in Los Angeles on Grammy weekend. He was sentenced to five years probation, a year-long domestic violence program and 180 days of community service.

The singer also added to the subject by responding to a fan’s question about whether the media will stop asking about her past incident:

“Before that, I was just a little girl from the island, singing pop music. It was easy to think I didn’t have a problem in the world. Then all of a sudden, boom! Everybody realises that I do have problems.”

But Rihanna says that dark period is finally behind her, adding:

“It made me strong. It’s a moment in my life I wish would disappear. In my head, it’s gone.”

In an interview for the January edition of style mag GQ, chart- topper Rihanna asked for her fans not to pity her.

“I have too much pride,” she admitted. “I’d never let anyone see me cry. I don’t want you to remember me for that.”

Rihanna, whose latest album ‘Loud’ is No#2 in the UK charts, also thinks her sexy image may annoy people.

She said.. “Girls don’t like to see other girls dressed sexy. I get that. People see my ass out and my boobs out, so it can get a little irritating.”

Rihanna also took to her twitter to say she is fed up with journalists asking her questions about Chris Brown. Check the tweets below.

Rihanna covers the December 2010 issue of Interview Magazine and got the honor to be interviewed by her good friend Kanye West. Kanye West wrote the cover story on Rihanna for the upcoming issue of Interview Magazine. Rihanna even talked about having a baby.

Below are a few excerpts from the interview…

Kanye: “So what inspired you to have that pink tank on your last tour? That was amazing, when you were sitting on top of the army tank.”

Rihanna: “I love to combine femininity with a kind of extreme masculine egde, and I felt like the tank is just not a typical thing that you think of when you think of a girl — or in any kind of relation to a girl. Then we made it hot pink. We just added that touch.”

Kanye: “I mean, people really need to see a photograph — the entire tank was pink. That was a great piece of commercial pop art. Was the idea of that to kind of portray an American Dream — like the fantasy of a this hot black girl sitting on a top of a pink tank?”

Rihanna:
“I never actually thought of it like that.”

Kanye:
“How does it feel to know that you could have any man in the world. Or woman. How does it feel to know that you can turn straight women gay?

Rihanna: “Is that a real question?”

Kanye: “Yeah.”

Rihanna: “Well…Thank you. I don’t know how to feel about that. I guess that’s flattering.”

On motherhood: Rihana: “I don’t really plan on the age. It could be a year from now. It could be 10 years from now. Whenever is right. I mean, I have a lot of other stuff to accomplish before I get to kids. Whenever the time is right, I’ll just know.”

All On The Cover: T.I. Covers VIBE Magazine

T.I. covers the December 2010 issue of VIBE magazine. The magazine became the latest edition, which the rapper was interviewed before he was due back in jail for his latest run-in with the police in Vegas with his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottell. In the interview T.I. spoke about their problems with pills, touched on family and imprisonment.

Below are a few excerpts from the interview, which will fully appear in the December issue of the publication …

I heard you mention that good deeds are quickly forgotten. Do you think that you and I been treated unfairly?

If you take in the extent to which people are generally talking about me, then – yes. But they are people who imagine something can not help. They help only those who know personally. And how can I expect to see me will be treated differently if they see me only on TV? People have always had so done: Jesus, Martin Luther King Jr., Muhammad Ali: When all is well, they are next. When something goes wrong, they are against you.

But now nothing is worse. Due to the fact that you did.

So I’ll tell you this: when you look at a guy who did not come home, he began to sell drugs at 12 years, 13 took the weapon, fell into the firefight, 15 landed in jail. And in all this chaos and hooliganism, but when I was in prison for a gun with a silencer, I have changed my life. And now you want to crucify him, for what? For three pills. Well, yes, it’s wrong and inexcusable. No problem. But if you take a large scale, it is a trifle. You can not kill a man after he went through a more serious things in life. Here it would be wrong if I rode with the weapon or shoot someone, it was then – yes. Just think about it.

How is it that you are addicted to drugs?

When I got out of prison, I had to frequently visit the dentist to repair the canals, pulling teeth. From January to February. And to relieve the pain, I subscribed to OxyContin and hydrocodone. In October 2007 I gave up and drink and smoke. Well, I took these pills and was taken only because of the pain. And then I liked it – more precisely, from them I felt good. And it’s legal. Once the pain passed, I continued to take them. I had 6.5 pieces. And I had about 80 pieces. Anyone else would have begun to drink or smoke and I saw pain. But once I realized that I was starting to take a seat them.

You talked about it with Eminem?

Of course. We were recording together and talked a lot. I asked how he knew that hooked. But if you consciously begin to self-harm, it means that something is wrong with you … with brains.”

Review: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010)

The Need for Speed franchise over the past few years has seen many iterations and many new ways to play. However, those new titles, while well received by critics, were underwhelming for fans of the series. Criterion Games has listened to the fans and brought back Hot Pursuit, the highly successful Need for Speed games of the 90’s and early 00’s. Does the new Hot Pursuit title successfully fulfill the nostalgia factor we all have, or is it just simply another game in the Need for Speed franchise?

Hot Pursuit starts out by explaining everything you’ll do throughout the course of your play time. This tutorial is something that is very much appreciated, especially for players new to the franchise. Upon listening to the tutorial you’re thrown into the career mode of Hot Pursuit, where you will play as both the cops and racers. Although it does state career mode, it’s essentially you completing races or wrecking racers as cops. It’s far from a career mode, as there is little to no storyline to think of. Seacrest County, the not so real city, is where you’ll spend you entire time in the Career. With it’s breathtaking and stunning environments, you’ll wish the county was in fact a real county you could visit on a vacation. Career mode consists of three game modes, Hot Pursuit, Interceptor, and Race, with a “preview” run, essentially a time trial mode, being available for each new section you unlock. You’ll be able to do the preview runs for both racers and cops. Hot Pursuit is a mode for cops, which has you trying to stop any racers on the road in under a certain amount of time. Interceptor is another mode for cops that has you trying to wreck one racer in order to arrest them. You’ll also need to do this under a par time. Race is simply for the racers, which at the beginning of the career will have you just trying to beat your opponents to the finish, but after your wanted level begins to rise cops will begin to try and stop your off-roading shenanigans. This is the toughest of the modes simply due to the fact you have to not only try and finish in first place, but you will also need to outsmart, out drive, and out maneuver the cops in order to succeed.

Driver details gives you the ability to see how far you are in the career mode, as well as letting you see what

milestones you’ve completed. Milestones are challenges that you get after doing certain tasks, such as crashing 20 times, or drive 50 miles while drifting. Online multiplayer has it’s own milestones, but they’re just simply for you to complete events online. It does a good job at accurately showing your stats in both single player and multiplayer. Your rap sheet in drive details shows you how you fair in the single player as a racer and let’s you see how many races you have gold medals in and what level each weapon is. Both cops and racers have 20 ranks to go through and unlock, in each unlock tier you will unlock different cars for both the cops and racers. For the racers, the higher you’re level, the more wanted you are. Cops will get promoted and unlock faster, more robust cars, along with different weapons. After completing each race you’ll receive one of three medals, either gold, silver, or bronze, most of the time by completing a certain race under a specific time, or by simply coming in first place. Nothing new there, but it does make you want to go all out and get that gold medal. When doing the time trials, most of them are trial and error. When you do one with the cops you get penalized 2 seconds for hitting a wall and 3 seconds for hitting traffic. Of course cops are meant to play fair, and not cause any damage to the city, but it makes it a tad bit difficult when you’re going from chasing down a racer, to all of sudden getting penalized for barely scraping a wall. Racers on the other hand don’t have that problem, they will not get penalized in the time trials, so drive as erratic as you want with them. For full review check out Bishop’s Gaming World.

All On The Cover: Nicki Minaj Covers Billboard Magazine

Nicki Minaj is gracing the cover of Billboard Magazine for the month of November 2010. Nicki recently sat for an interview with BILLBOARD Magazine to promote ‘PINK FRIDAY’.

Check out a few excerpts from her interview after the jump….

https://i0.wp.com/minajphotos.com/albums/magazines/billboard%202010/001.jpg

On her last job:

“The last job I had was as an office manager in a little, tiny room where I literally wanted to strangle this guy because he was so loud and obnoxious,” Minaj recalls. “I would go home with stress pains in my neck and my back. That’s when I went to my mother and said, ‘Look, I’m not going back to work.’ I’d been fired like 15 times because I had a horrible attitude. I worked at Red Lobster before that and I chased a customer out of the restaurant once so I could stick my middle finger up at her and demand that she give me my pen back. I swear to God I was bad.”

On being a NY rapper:

“When I started rapping, people were trying to make me like the typical New York rapper, but I’m not that,” Minaj says. “No disrespect to New York rappers, but I don’t want people to hear me and know exactly where I’m from. I wanted the album to be universal and versatile. It really feels like it speaks for every one of my personalities.”

On getting respect in a male-dominated field:

“When I do songs like “Monster,” when I’m on a record with Jay-Z and Kanye West, when I’m on a record with Wayne and Em — I definitely think the dudes give me respect,” Minaj says. “They haven’t come easy but I think people are starting to give me more props.”

On “Your Love”:

Although first official single “Your Love” reached No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, the track wasn’t even meant to be released.

“I didn’t like the song and I didn’t put it out,” she says. “Someone stole it out of the studio and put it on the Internet and I cried because I was mortified. I was humiliated and remember telling Drake, ‘This is going to ruin my career.’ ”

On her work ethic:

“I push people around me but I don’t push anyone more than I push myself,” she says. “I tell people all the time, ‘You want to work for me? You have to give 250,000%,’ because when I’m in the booth, I don’t half-ass it. I demand perfection from everyone around me and if you can’t live up to that, then bye-bye.”

The Young Money rapper will be releasing her debut album ‘Pink Friday’ on November 22nd.

Music News: Soulja Boy Says Kanye West Inspires Him

Soulja Boy is crediting a recent session with Kanye West for expanding his mind as a musician.

Last month, Soulja Boy visited New York City for media rounds and to shoot a cover for XXL magazine.

During his time there, Soulja worked with both 50 Cent and Kanye West.

While his work with 50 was released as a video, “Mean Mug”, Soulja Boy’s music with Kanye West has yet to be heard.

He revealed that Kid Cudi joined them, and they completed several verses for an undisclosed amount of tracks.

Working with Kanye, and hearing an advanced copy of ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’, helped Soulja Boy to different creative possibilities he can attempt with his own music.

“We got in the studio: me, Kanye and Kid Cudi. That was dope,” Soulja Boy told AllHipHop.com. “He played some dope beats and we worked around a couple of samples and got a couple verses in. I listened to the finished product that Kanye is on, and that really opened my mind. I don’t even want to say as a rapper, but as a musician. It really opens your mind to different sounds and drum kicks.”

With the music still in the vaults, and Kanye’s album tracklist confirmed, the next logical question is whether Kanye and Soulja’s work will be showcased in an upcoming G.O.O.D. Friday drop.

Kanye’s celebrated series runs until January, and has already featured artists ranging from Charlie Wilson and Keri Hilson, to Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj.

“We’ll have to see,” Soulja said with the laugh of someone caught red-handed. “There’s been some leaking going on. Kanye was kind of mad about that. Wait for those Fridays…”

Soulja Boy’s third solo album, ‘The DeAndre Way’, is set to be released on November 30.

Baby Bump: It’s A Girl for Ne-Yo & Monyetta Shaw!

It’s a girl for R&B superstar Ne-Yo and his actress girlfriend Monyetta Shaw!

Ne-Yo and Monyetta welcomed their baby girl earlier than expected on Friday, November 12th, in an Atlanta hospital.

The proud daddy tweeted Saturday about the birth of his daughter:

“Salutations all. As my life transforms due to the new life that sprung up on me last night, it’s good to know my folks support. She’s healthy and happy. Feels like I’m in love for the first time.”

“I’ve been in love before, but it is unlike anything I have ever felt. It’s as if I were in love for the first time.”

“Welcoming that little girl to the world last night defined for me what “willing to kill and die for” truly means. My world, my life, all hers.”

Monyetta was originally due to give birth in January.

A source says that baby Madilyn Grace Smith was born at 4lbs.2oz — nearly six weeks earlier than expected.

The singer was reportedly at a charity event for his Ne-Yo Foundation when he got the call that Shaw went into labor. He luckily managed to get to the hospital to witness the birth of his daughter.

On Sunday, November 14, a baby shower was held for singer Ne-Yo’s newborn daughter Madilyn Grace Smith, who was born in an Atlanta hospital on Friday, November 12th. The shower was held at one of Atlanta’s prestigious hotels, The Mansion on Peachtree.  According to sources at the party, Monyetta did not attend the festivities.

Music In Ya Ear!: Rihanna ft. Drake – “What’s My Name?”

Rihanna’s steamy collaboration Drake, the Island-infused love jam “What’s My Name”, off of Rihanna‘s ‘LOUD’ album, is the number one song in the country right now. Perfect timing for the song’s video to drop, no? In the video, Rihanna and Drake get touchy-feely with one another.

Drake told the New York Times back in June about his brief relationship with Rihanna after she had asked him to write a song for her (that was never released).

“I was a pawn,” he said. “You know what she was doing to me? She was doing exactly what I’ve done to so many women throughout my life, which is show them quality time, then disappear. I was like, wow, this feels terrible.”

Looks like the two artists were able to kiss (on camera) and make up to make this sweet new video. We’ll cheers to that!

Wedding Bliss: Jessica Simpson Engaged?!

Sources have confirmed to UsMagazine.com that Jessica Simpson dud in fact got engaged to beau Eric Johnson on Thursday, just days after Us broke the news that her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, popped the question to Vanessa Minnillo, his love of nearly five years. Simpson and Lachey, 37, split in 2005, after three years of marriage.

On Saturday, Simpson flashed a sizable ring on her left hand during an appearance at Dillard’s at Oak Park Mall in Kansas City. Multiple sources later confirmed the pair was planning to tie the knot.

“We are excited to confirm that they are engaged,” Simpson’s rep told People.

The Texas native began dating the former NFL player in May while he was estranged from his first wife, stylist Keri Johnson; their divorce was finalized five months later.

“I met a wonderful man. Damn I’m lucky!” Simpson tweeted in September, gushing about her new relationship.

The newly engaged couple will spend Thanksgiving in New York, where Simpson is scheduled to perform during Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade; Johnson‘s family will join her on the float.

“Having a boyfriend through the holidays, we’re going to see how that all splits up,” the singer told Ryan Seacrest during a KIIS-FM radio interview last week. “I can’t imagine not being with my nephew and watching him open gifts. Maybe someone gets Christmas Eve and somebody gets Christmas day.”

Though Ashlee Simpson-Wentz recently told Us that her sister “is happy, so we’re all really happy,” sources insist that most of Simpson‘s friends are concerned about Johnson‘s motives for dating the singer.

“Eric was never that successful in the NFL, but he’s always wanted the celebrity lifestyle,” a source told Us in October. “Her friends do not trust him.”

Jessica’s Engagement News Greeted With Jeers, Skepticism

If Jessica Simpson expected the Internet to erupt in a collective “mazel tov!” when she confirmed her engagement to Eric Johnson on Sunday, she probably felt a wee bit disappointed.

The goodwill that the likeable starlet, 30, has long enjoyed (except maybe for that mom jeans moment) seemed to take a nasty turn at the news that Johnson, her boyfriend of five-plus months, had slipped a non-traditional-looking gold, ruby and diamond engagement ring on her finger.

Amid a smattering of well-wishes, the online masses found a lot to gripe about over her betrothal. Chief among the complaints: That the question-popping announcement came off as — and we’re paraphrasing here — a “desperate,” “pathetic” and “tacky” case of face-saving “one-upmanship,” falling as it did just days after Simpson‘s ex-husband, Nick Lachey, proposed to Vanessa Minnillo, his girlfriend of four years.

Other factors contributing to the wave of disapproval and predictions of romantic doom included the swiftness of their engagement; the fact that Johnson finalized his divorce just last month; and that his career has been in limbo since his post-Yale stint with the NFL (he reportedly bailed on pursuing his MBA at the Wharton School of Business when he hooked up with Jessica in May).

One commenter has even coined the phrase “pulling a Jessica,” which apparently means dropping hints to your boyfriend that it’s time to make a commitment, for better or worse.

Our take? We’ve always liked Simpson and wish her nothing but happiness. Are we worried that she’s rushing into things with Johnson? Sure, but love doesn’t necessarily follow a timeline. Plenty of couples have sprinted to the altar and enjoyed a happily-ever-after (and plenty of others haven’t — we’re looking at you, Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney).

Either way, we strongly urge Jessica to get a prenup.

Also, the timing is definitely … awkward. Would it have been better from a PR standpoint for them to keep the betrothal hush-hush for a few months to get some distance from Nick and Vanessa? Almost certainly.

Simpson and Johnson‘s engagement is now irrevocably tied to Lachey and Minnillo‘s, with the dueling nuptials sure to fuel a tabloid competition: Who has the better ring? Whose dress is more elaborate? Who will star in “Newlyweds 2.0”? Who will get knocked up first (by the by, we expect the shotgun-wedding rumors to start any second now for Jess and Eric)? It’s not an ideal situation for either duo.

The proposal also comes amid talk that Jessica was “deeply saddened” by Nick‘s engagement (she insists that she couldn’t be happier for her ex, whom she split with in 2005), and that she’d taken a potshot at Minnillo during a recent run-in at a Los Angeles restaurant, supposedly sniping, “I hope Vanessa likes her clothes because I bought them for her, since Nick took all my money.”

Still, Simpson has made it clear (as is her public-gushing custom) that Johnson is everything she could want and more.

“This is just normal, thank God. He’s very, very supportive,” Simpson enthused to People mag last month of her “hottie” squeeze. “[I] couldn’t ask for a better man in my life right now.”

Speaking of men in her life, we can’t forget to mention her dad, Joe, who reportedly never warmed up to Lachey, causing tension in the MTV-chronicled marriage.

He quickly tweeted his best wishes, saying that he’s “so very happy for Jess and Eric. May they have a lifetime of joy and happiness.” No word on whether that also includes giving them some space.

In what we consider a troubling sign, Papa Joe tagged along back in July when Jess celebrated her 30th birthday with Johnson on a yacht in Capri. Paparazzi snapped him standing just a few uncomfortable feet away as his little girl smooched and straddled her beau.

Source: Wonderwall

“What are your thoughts about Jessica’s engagement? I think it’s a bit selfish on her man’s part (Eric Johnson), being that she probably didn’t know about it, but we really never know. Either way congrats to the couple. I wish them good luck & love.”

Music News: Chrisette Michele Not Happy With Rick Ross

Chrisette Michele is not happy with a certain Miami reppin’ rapper she’s done some collabos with named Rick Ross. What did he do to upset her you ask? Welllll, Wednesday night at the Soul Train Awards he threw a hissy fit and stormed out because he lost “Best Hip Hop Song” went to Eminem.

Michelle was so put off by Ross’ exit that she felt the need to “denounce” him, and hip-hop in general, on her blog:

If this is the way hip hop is then I denounce it.
This is not about ego. This is about what I can bring to the world. My life is for the people. I live to give.

It’s my desire to bring life and freedom light and love everywhere I go. Upward mobility in the brown skinned community.
Who stands off at an award show because they don’t win? An award is winning at being as “stuck in a category” as possible. Congratulations to all the trophy holders who won at being the most like every one else.

I could have sworn hip hop was on the come up. But apparently rapping is about venting, bashing, chauvinistic pigging, and EGO. Not cool. Don’t LET me start rapping.
They say…I’m ecclectic. I’m underrated. I’m different. Well If I win an award it’s because I paved a way. Every award I’ve won was new in it’s category. You know why? Because I’m amazing at being my damn self.

Have u even heard of those categories? Nope. But guess what? You ain’t never seen another me. And u never will. No ego here. Why? Because it’s none needed. My award is waking up every morning and CAKING off of what I believe in by the grace of God.

Maybe I’ll call my 4th album “winners : just like every body else” maybe not.
I pray with every song I sing Im singing from the bottom of my heart. If all we want is an award for telling our truths, then we really have no true reason. This isn’t a competition. This is a stage for self expression and I’m grateful for the opportunity to live on it. I’d sing even if nobody sang along.

-from the bottom of my disappointed heart. Hip Hop… Man up. I wanted to be supportive but I can’t understand you. I believed in you… But apparently you’re so high you can’t even see what the world needs

Is all hip hop like that? Absolutely not! But some of it certainly is. Let me spit a few bars. I’m not that kinda hip hop. I rep hip hop too. But not that kinda ego trippin foolery.
