Music In Ya Ear!: Eminem ft Rihanna – “Love The Way You Lie”

Eminem premiered the new video for “Love The Way You Lie” Vevo and MTV yesterday (Aug.5th, 2010). The video, inspired by Eminem and his ex-wife Kim’s turmoil relationship, features actress Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan of “Lost”. Dominic tells MTV

“I think we tried as hard as we could to not glorify the violence, to try and explain that this was a relationship that is by no means ideal and a relationship that probably should have ended a lot sooner than it did. The concept of ‘Love the Way You Lie’ was essentially a look at the relationship that Eminem was in with his wife, Kim, so I kind of felt like I was playing Eminem a little bit, and Megan Fox was kind of playing Kim”

“There’s nothing sexy or cool or fun about being in a violent relationship. Whether it’s her being violent to you or you being violent to her … violence both ways or any kind of destructive relationship is something you should probably get out of.” One of the messages of the video is that Eminem probably should have bailed on his relationship earlier than he did.

“I really like the fact, that the video has Megan Fox acting as if she were Kim. She’s really good at playing those kind of roles. Good choice Eminem!”

Music News: VMA Breakdown

It was an intense and exciting Sunday evening as the “2009 Video Music Awards” took over New York City, causing quite a stir with Kanye West‘s outburst, Madonna‘s surprise appearance, Janet Jackson‘s tribute performance to her brother Michael and the cast of ‘Twilight”s big reveal of their extended ‘New Moon’ trailer.

Madonna opened the awards show, paying tribute to the late Michael Jackson.

Madonna called Michael Jackson a “hero,” a “king” and a “human being” as she paid tribute to the King of Pop at MTV’s “2009 Video Music Awards,” prior to Janet Jackson‘s anticipated performance.

“When I was six, my mother died. I think he got the shorter end of the sick,” she says of the music legend. “I never had a mother but he never had a childhood.”

Madonna said when she learned of Michael’s death while preparing for her tour, she felt as if she had “abandoned him.”

“I know his pain,” she said, referring to the constant media attention the King of Pop received.

Madonna said his legacy lives on, starting with her two sons who are big fans of the late singer. “There’s a whole lot of crotch grabbing and moon-walking in my house,” Madonna joked.

She concluded her tribute saying, “He was a king, but he was also a human being. … Long live the king.”

Following her words, dancers made their way to the stage to perform to Michael‘s acclaimed song “Thriller.” Janet Jackson followed that performance up with her own tribute, singing the song “Scream,” a duet she recorded with her brother.

Taylor Swift then went up onstage to accept the award for Best Female Music Video from Taylor Lautner and Shakira, but her speech was cut short when Kanye West grabbed the microphone from her, declaring that Beyonce’ Knowles had the best music video of the year.

Swift was also amongst the performers of the night, in addition to Green Day, Pink, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Jay-Z featuring Alicia Keys and Kid Cudi. Cudi dedicated his performance to the late Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein, while Pink performed high in the sky with a trapeze artist.

The show concluded with a preview of Michael Jackson‘s anticipated documentary ‘This Is It.’

Music News: Eminem and Mariah Carey are at it again

Eminem Has More Beef Against Mariah Carey….

On Thursday, the rapper debuted a new song, “The Warning,” slamming his ex and going into full detail about a sexual encounter they once had.

“Only reason I dissed you in the first place is because you denied seeing me. Now I’m pissed off,” he says before he starts his rap.

“You wanna hear something wick wack?/ I got the same exact tattoo that’s on Nick’s back,” he says, referring to Carey’s husband Nick Cannon.

Eminem also blasts Carey for mocking him in her latest music video, “Obsessed.”

“Oh gee, is that supposed to be me in the video with the goatee?/ Wow Mariah, didn’t expect ya to go b—s out./ B—h, shut the f— up before I put all those phone calls out/ When you was wilding out/ Before Nick, when you was on my di–,” he raps.

He then threatens to reveal personal pictures he has of the Carey. Mariah, it ever occur to you that I still have pictures?” he asks.

The feud between the two began earlier this year after Eminem namedropped Carey in the track “Bagpipes From Baghdad” from his latest album Relapse.

“Mariah whatever happened to us / Why did we ever have to break-up?” he rapped. Nick Cannon, you better back the f— up. I’m not playing, I want her back, you punk.”

Cannon later shot back on his blog, calling the rapper (who goes by the name “Slim Shady”) “Slim Lamey.” He added that Eminem is “still obsessed with my wife, the same female that wouldn’t let him get to second base from 8 years ago.” A month or so later, Carey got the last laugh by mocking Eminem in “Obsessed.”

Hip-Hop News: Eminem Talks New D12 Album

After a several year-long hiatus, Eminem has finally returned to satiate the thirst of his deprived fans with not one, but two albums—Relapse, which is in stores now, and Relapse 2 which is slated for release in late 2009.

His latest appearance was on BET’s Rap City with Big Tigger reposted by Rap Radar, where not only did he discuss his drug addictions and his multiple relapses, but he also confirmed that D12 will be releasing a third studio album:  “…as far as the future of D12, we’re gonna be back in the studio soon.” He said that he felt his music now is the same as it would have been if Proof had still been around, because, “…I think that this is what Proof always wanted, you know, [for] me to go crazy again.

With the murder of Proof, Eminem lost his original hype man, mentor and best friend but these days, you see fellow D12 member, Mr. Porter (formerly known as Kon Artis) on stage providing ad libs and hyping the crowd up in his place. Although he’s been focusing more on honing his skills as a producer than a lyricist, Mr. Porter shows that he hasn’t fallen off during the Rap City freestyle segment towards the end of the show along with Em and Tigger.

Despite many trials and tribulations faced by the “three-headed monster” (Eminem’s relapses, Dr. Dre’s loss of his son and G-Unit woes), Em says that he feels that they are still the most powerful dynasty in all of Hip Hop. This will certainly be tested very soon, as the world is expecting Relapse 2, Detox and Before I Self Destruct to drop within the year.

Although Eminem mainly talks about his multiple drug relapses that have occurred, his album Relapse is actually a double entender for his first drug relapse as well as the relapse of the Slim Shady persona, who is prominent throughout many of the tracks on the album. Relapse 2, due out later this year, is expected to follow the same concept.
