Download It!: Wiz Khalifa – “Cabin Fever”

The recent commercial success of rapper Wiz Khalifa has taken him to new heights in the hip-hip world. His most recent single, “Black and Yellow,” landed him a No.1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 list and has attracted the attention of hip-hop heavyweights like Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg and Juicy J of Three 6 Mafia.

Wiz‘s most recent work, “Cabin Fever”, is a nine track mixtape which features the witty rhymes of Wiz along with up-and-comer Big Sean, Trae Tha Truth and Juicy J. Compared to his older work, “Cabin Fever” is a far cry from his past mixtapes – the production seems to be repetitive, the lyrics are dumbed down and the good ol’ money, cars, clothes montage keeps repeating itself throughout the tape.

Regardless of the slight downfalls of the tape, it serves its purpose as being the prequel to Wiz‘s major label debut, ‘Rolling Papers’, which is scheduled to release on March 29 of Atlantic Records.

“Cabin Fever” starts off with the airy sounding “Phone Numbers” that features the boastful rhymes of Big Sean along with a verse from Trae The Truth. Big Sean effortlessly steals the spotlight on the song and makes it one of the best tracks on the tape. Wiz bounces back on the title track “Cabin Fever”, which has been surfacing around the Internet for about a year now. The eerie feel of the piano driven song sets the pace for the rest of the tape.

The tag team of Wiz and Big Sean shows up again on “GangBang,” – a track that doesn’t really showcase any of Wiz‘s lyrical prowess but makes for a great party record or something to play in the car with a sub-woofer. “WTF” and “Homicide” are other noticeable standouts on the tape and leave the listener yearning for the release of a full-length studio album from Wiz.

Whether it’s because of his absurd amount of tattoos or his widely known Twitter account, after a long stretch of being labeled an underground rapper, Wiz has finally found the formula for commercial success. Even though older fans of his music might argue that his sound is changing and his music won’t ever sound the same again, Wiz provides his fans with what they’ve been waiting for: new music.

Music News: Kanye West Cancels ‘G.O.O.D. Fridays’ Due To Leaked Song

Kanye West’s “G.O.O.D. Fridays” series is officially over…well at least for now. The rapper who has been hard at work on his upcoming album released several statements via Twitter Thursday morning (Sept 30th), after a premature version of “Lost in the World” hit the internet on Sept. 29th. The leaked song which features Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, spread like wildfire despite the fact that it only has one verse of recorded vocals. Naturally, West himself is not too happy about this leak and decided it’s best to end his free music giveaway.

On Twitter, West stated that he was upset by this leak, particularly because the versions circulated are not finished and that he had been generous in supplying free music already.

“Due to blogs leaking unfinished songs from my actual album I’ve decided to pass on Good Fridays this week,” West wrote.

“It’s messed up that one hacker can mess everything up for everyone… I love to take a year to finish my songs and deliver them to you guys in their most completed form. It would have seemed like since I give free music every week even the lowest form of human being would respect that enough not to leak unfinished songs from my real album.”

Despite various reports to the contrary, the album still does not have a confirmed title or release date. Although previous reports slate the album for an early November release.

Just In: Floyd Mayweather Arrested While 50 Cent Tweets About It

Boxer Floyd Mayweather is the latest celeb that has found himself in some baby mama drama….at least he’s smiling about it. Earlier today he was arrested in Las Vegas on a felony theft charge stemming from a domestic complaint from his child’s mother. The mother of 3 of his kids sought a protection order after he allegedly beat her and stole some of her personal items including a cell phone. Floyd went missing but was busted earlier today in Vegas on a Grand Larceny charge.

Yesterday evening, his friend 50 Cent took to his Twitter account and basically put all of Floyd and his baby mom’s business on front street.

Another case of angry baby mama wanting money. Police are looking for @FloydMayweather. I just got off the phone with him. She’s claiming he hit her but has no bruises. Floyd went to see his kids last night if a fighter of Floyd caliber hits u, u would b bruised.

I talked to him before and after the situation he wasn’t even upset. He said he asked her why was the house so dirty she started trippin’. He bought nice clothes for his kids they were all over the place. His baby mama said shes not gonna force them to wear clothes they don’t want. I told him that’s crazy. I know how he felt. I met her before so I told him she would calm down. Can’t believe she called the cops.

She has a girlfriend that stays in the guesthouse that Floyd is paying for her as child support that is helping fuel the situation. Floyd said he feels like her girlfriend is using her and pushing her in the wrong direction. This is crazy to me. I performed in club pure on NYE in Vegas I remember Floyd showing me a ring he bought her for $1M. Who can u trust!

This sh*t really scares me man. she’s a smart girl I talk to her a few times. I hope she just stops my stomach hurting behind this sh*t. I speak to Floyd every day he like my brother his baby’s mother did this sh*t before in 2003 dragged him to court then said he didn’t hit her.

According to the complaint, his baby mother claims that Floyd showed up at her house Thursday morning and began yelling at her about her new boyfriend. He then pulled her by her hair, threw her to the ground and began punching her in her head.

She claims he continued to beat her in front of their kids and threatened them by saying that if they ran or tried to call the police he would beat them the same way. He also allegedly told her he would kill her and her boyfriend.

Drama!

Music In Ya Ear!: Alicia Keys “Unthinkable (I’m Ready)”

Alicia Keys – Unthinkable (I’m Ready) [MUSIC VIDEO]

[On the set of Alicia Key’s next video “Unthinkable.” Chad Michael Murray plays the leading man.]

This is a pretty dope video that leaked early.  This is one of the dopest songs she has come out with in a while, so I was expecting a decent video.  The first thing I thought as the video began was “What type of One Tree Hill??” haha because this video features Alicia (of course), and the dude from One Tree Hill, Chad Michael Murray. Random much?  I also thought she should of had Drake in the video, since he wrote the song and has many (very soft) vocals throughout the song.  Overall, this video wasn’t too bad…

Her Manager Jeff Robinson tweeted this today

Breaking News: Patrick Swayze Loses His Battle With Pancreatic Cancer

Patrick Swayze, the hunky actor who danced his way into moviegoers’ hearts with “Dirty Dancing” and then broke them with “Ghost,” died Monday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.

“Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully on Monday with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months,” his publicist, Annett Wolf, said in a statement Monday evening. Swayze died in Los Angeles, Wolf said, but she declined to give further details.

Fans of the actor were saddened to learn in March 2008 that Swayze was suffering from a particularly deadly form of cancer. He kept working despite the diagnosis, putting together a memoir with his wife and shooting “The Beast,” an A&E drama series for which he had already made the pilot.

Swayze said he opted not to use painkilling drugs while making “The Beast” because they would have taken the edge off his performance. The show drew a respectable 1.3 million viewers when the 13 episodes ran in 2009, but A&E said it had reluctantly decided not to renew it for a second season.

When he first went public with the illness, some reports gave him only weeks to live, but his doctor said his situation was “considerably more optimistic” than that. Swayze acknowledged that time might be running out given the grim nature of the disease.

“I’d say five years is pretty wishful thinking,” Swayze told ABC‘s Barbara Walters in early 2009. “Two years seems likely if you’re going to believe statistics. I want to last until they find a cure, which means I’d better get a fire under it.”

C. Thomas Howell, who costarred with Swayze in “The Outsiders,” “Grandview U.S.A.” and “Red Dawn,” said: “I have always had a special place in my heart for Patrick. While I was fortunate enough to work with him in three films, it was our passion for horses that forged a friendship between us that I treasure to this day. Not only did we lose a fine actor today, I lost my older ‘Outsiders’ brother.”

Other celebrities used Twitter to express condolences, and “Dirty Dancing” was the top trending topic for a while Monday night, trailed by several other Swayze films.

Ashton Kutcher — whose wife, Demi Moore, costarred with Swayze in “Ghost” — wrote: “RIP P Swayze.” Kutcher also linked to a YouTube clip of the actor poking fun at himself in a classic “Saturday Night Live” sketch, in which he played a wannabe Chippendales dancer alongside the corpulent — and frighteningly shirtless — Chris Farley.

Larry King wrote: “Patrick Swayze was a wonderful actor & a terrific guy. He put his heart in everything. He was an extraordinary fighter in his battle w Cancer.” King added that he’d do a tribute to Swayze on his CNN program on Tuesday night.

“I was such a huge fan of the movie, “Dirty Dancing”. I had the movie that I used to play in my VCR over and over again. My cousin and I would dance and try to do the lift he used do, but we just seemed to never get it right. He was such a great actor and he will surely be missed.”

Rest in Peace Patrick Swayze 1952 – 2009.

Celebrity News: Diddy Twitters Memorial Amongst Others

Celebrities took to Twitter to relive their experiences of Michael Jackson’s memorial – with some stars even tweeting from inside the event, which was held at the Staples Center venue in LA. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs tweeted from inside the ceremony: “I’m at the memorial. RIP Michael Jackson.” He later added: “Just left funeral. Very sad! RIP MJ!”

Mariah Carey’s husband, Nick Cannon, also wrote his tweet from inside, saying: “A day of mourning. Here in the Staples Center, God is absolutely present.”

From one famous family to another, Kim Kardashian, her sisters Khloe and Kourtney and their mother Kris attended the memorial service for Michael Jackson Tuesday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Afterward, Kim shared her thoughts on her Twitter page:

“Kourtney, Khloe, my mom and I just left the Memorial. Everyone had such amazing memories of MJ. We all cried & laughed & remembered!” “Michael’s children were so brave … 2 stand there on stage & speak to the world about their father” “I spoke at

my dad’s funeral & it was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I was shaking & crying & what Paris did was sooo soooo brave!”

Kim, who once dated one of Jackson’s nephews when she was a teenager.

Other celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Kevin Jonas, and Kelly Osbourne wrote about being moved by the memorial as they watched it on TV. Pamela Anderson said: “I’m starting with the woman in the mirror. Bless you Michael. You made the world a better place. Rest in Peace. P x.”

Just In: 50 Cent not the “Real Blogger” on his Twitter?

50 Cent has no involvement in the Twitter.com account set up in his name, according to the rapper’s internet business manager.

The “In Da Club” hit maker, real name Curtis Jackson, recently appeared to have joined the throng of celebrities who use the social networking site to keep fans updated on their every movement.

But the hip-hop star’s online business manager, Chris ‘Broadway’ Romero, admits 50 has nothing to do with the page – all the posts are written by him.

However, Romero insists the messages are all written in the spirit of the rap superstar, as he takes quotes from 50 Cent magazine interviews and posts them directly onto the site.

Romero confesses to the New York Times, “He (50 Cent) doesn’t actually use Twitter. But the energy of it is all him.”
