Music News: Lil Wayne Talks New Album with Drake

It is agreed, there will be an album Lil Wayne/Drake. This is probably one of the most exciting things in my life because we are going to get the music in another sphere.

“We have always worked on it, it’s always in the studio. We often talk about making this album, this joint project.” Weezy told Sway of MTV News.

The skipper of Young Money is so happy with the songs recorded during his studio sessions with Drake for ‘The Carter 4’ that it planned to spend more time with him to advance it. He will have to play it tight for all of its obligations:

“The ‘T-Wayne’ (album together with T-Pain) is underway. I’m also working on the album ‘Like Father Like Son’ with Stunna.”

Drake, in anyway, is patient: “He’s a very friendly, it does not interfere with my plans. He said “I’ve been waiting for you and it’s time for our album together’.”

Of course, Sway has attempted to extract information on a possible release date. The response of Lil Wayne will delight more than one “Probably at the end of the year.”

Optimistic?

Just In: Lil Wayne Free At Last!

“Free Weezy” t-shirts, No Longer Needed. Lil Wayne has been officially been released from Rikers Island today (November 4th), after serving eight months behind bars following a a gun possession charge in July of 2007.

And what a long, eventful eight months it has been for Wayne as well as us, his fans. Around 8:35AM, representatives confirmed that Lil Wayne was officially released earlier this morning.

Perhaps one of the most eyebrow-raising aspects of Wayne’s jail stint was the fact that he managed to shoot nine music videos in a 48-hour period before heading off to the clink. And once they began to surface, it became apparent that, at times, quality control was of little concern.

The rapper headed to jail on March 8 to begin serving a year-long sentence. But his stay was shortened due to good behavior (hence his early release today).

That’s not to say Weezy didn’t run into a little bit of trouble while he was locked up—he was busted in May for being found with a MP3 player and charger in his possession. Eventually he was punished with a month in “solitary confinement” for the infraction.

In late September Wayne’s ‘I Am Not A Human Being’ album was released digitally. Once the physical CD version hit shelves in October (I made sure to get my copy), the album climbed to #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart. And it’s still in the Top 10, this week sitting at #4.

Often he would post letters to his fans via the website WeezyThanxYou.com. Two days ago, in his final entry, Wayne wrote, “As I greet you all in my last days on this island, I must reflect. I think back to when I first arrived and I had no clue of what I’d be experiencing. I was never scared, worried, nor bothered by the situation. For that, I thank God, my family, and you, my amazing fans.”

And now, with Lil Wayne a free man once again, it’s time to celebrate his freedom, but according to Young Money Records‘ president Mack Maine, and MTV News, Wayne is said to be heading to Miami for a celebration that will take place on Sunday at a strip club.

“Well deserved!!”

Below is a photo that is said to be taken this morning of Wayne leaving NYC’s Rikers Island….

“Welcome back to the music world. You’ve been truly missed.”
