Sports News: Carmelo Anthony is Finally Home!!!

As you may all already know, Carmelo Anthony is officially a New York Knicks player. When I got the phone call that it was official I was beyond myself. I was so excited and proud of the great news. I’m a bit upset that I didn’t make it to his first official game as a Knicks, due to being out of town but I will sure make it to a game real soon. I can’t wait!!

In other news, according to to his wife, the former MTV VJ La La Vazquez, Carmelo Anthony makes delicious lobster tails. This kitchen intimacy was revealed Wednesday at halftime of Melo’s Knicks debut, in a courtside television interview.

Carmelo Anthony is hugged by his wife La La and his son, Kiyan Carmelo Anthony, at a news conference to introduce him as one of the newest members of the Knicks.

“He’s an excellent cook,” Vazquez said of her husband, who finally and mercifully arrived in New York this past week after months of overwrought drama. Standing aloft a pair of striking six-inch Louboutins in Knicks blue, the Brooklyn-born Vazquez beamed as she recalled the news of the mega trade. “Baby, we’re coming home,” she said her husband told her.

Since this is New York, the conversation quickly pivoted to real estate. Vazquez, who will be starring in her own VH1 reality show—La La’s Full Court Life—said she’d already been flooded with leads.

“I have at least 200 referrals right now,” she said.

It was a charming moment of Anthony family diplomacy, and not the first. Earlier that night, Knicks owner James Dolan almost managed to undermine Anthony‘s feel-good introductory press conference with a ramble attacking rumors of his continued collaboration with ex-general manager and coach Isiah Thomas.

After a gracious nod to the departed players the Knicks dealt to acquire Anthony, Dolan defended his relationship with current GM Donnie Walsh and said, “I will say this very directly: While Isiah Thomas is a friend of mine, a very good friend of mine…”

“Dada!” Carmelo‘s son, Kiyan, whispered loudly, interrupting the man who is set to pay his father a $65 million, three-year contract extension. Anthony, seated on stage next to Dolan in an orange headband and Knicks sweats, cracked up, as did many in the crowd.

The tension had been sufficiently punctured. This would not be a night of finger-pointing and recriminations. Even after Dolan continued, he was soon back smiling with his new star.

The enthusiasm of the Anthonys melted the complicated feelings of the deal—at least briefly. On Wednesday night, this was not a forced-hand acquisition of a superstar eager for a maximum contract with his desired team.

This was a gooey homecoming.

Later, before a rowdy Garden crowd, the Knicks would pluck the violin some more with a video that burnished Anthony‘s Red Hook roots and his toddler-aged worship of Bernard King (Baltimore—where Anthony was raised, became a school hoops legend and built a youth center that bears his name—wasn’t mentioned). Diddy‘s spare anthem with Skylar Grey, “Coming Home,” tinkled in the background.

Anthony is thrilled to be here and stay here. (The long term is not so certain across the river in New Jersey, which pulled off its own major deal on Tuesday, acquiring Utah All-Star guard Deron Williams.) In Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire the Knicks have two stars in their twenties enamored of a franchise that hasn’t won a title since 1973. They buy into the mythology, the bombast, the center-of-the-universe-ness that LeBron James so obviously did not.

The thing is, they also have to play basketball, and right now they have to do it on a depleted team. On Wednesday, despite 27 points from Carmelo and 21 from veteran add-on Chauncey Billups, the Knicks treaded water against the dreadful Milwaukee Bucks before finally winning, 114-108.

The Big Debut is out of the way. But there is so much else in the path—Boston, Miami, Chicago; the lack of a dynamic center; the steep learning curve of new players trying to adjust to unfamiliar coaching and tendencies. This is what Carmelo Anthony wanted and why he turned a pair of franchises upside down. It won’t be as easy to fix as lobster tails.

Music In Ya Ear!: Rihanna ft. Drake – “What’s My Name?”

Rihanna’s steamy collaboration Drake, the Island-infused love jam “What’s My Name”, off of Rihanna‘s ‘LOUD’ album, is the number one song in the country right now. Perfect timing for the song’s video to drop, no? In the video, Rihanna and Drake get touchy-feely with one another.

Drake told the New York Times back in June about his brief relationship with Rihanna after she had asked him to write a song for her (that was never released).

“I was a pawn,” he said. “You know what she was doing to me? She was doing exactly what I’ve done to so many women throughout my life, which is show them quality time, then disappear. I was like, wow, this feels terrible.”

Looks like the two artists were able to kiss (on camera) and make up to make this sweet new video. We’ll cheers to that!

Just In: Lil Wayne Free At Last!

“Free Weezy” t-shirts, No Longer Needed. Lil Wayne has been officially been released from Rikers Island today (November 4th), after serving eight months behind bars following a a gun possession charge in July of 2007.

And what a long, eventful eight months it has been for Wayne as well as us, his fans. Around 8:35AM, representatives confirmed that Lil Wayne was officially released earlier this morning.

Perhaps one of the most eyebrow-raising aspects of Wayne’s jail stint was the fact that he managed to shoot nine music videos in a 48-hour period before heading off to the clink. And once they began to surface, it became apparent that, at times, quality control was of little concern.

The rapper headed to jail on March 8 to begin serving a year-long sentence. But his stay was shortened due to good behavior (hence his early release today).

That’s not to say Weezy didn’t run into a little bit of trouble while he was locked up—he was busted in May for being found with a MP3 player and charger in his possession. Eventually he was punished with a month in “solitary confinement” for the infraction.

In late September Wayne’s ‘I Am Not A Human Being’ album was released digitally. Once the physical CD version hit shelves in October (I made sure to get my copy), the album climbed to #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart. And it’s still in the Top 10, this week sitting at #4.

Often he would post letters to his fans via the website WeezyThanxYou.com. Two days ago, in his final entry, Wayne wrote, “As I greet you all in my last days on this island, I must reflect. I think back to when I first arrived and I had no clue of what I’d be experiencing. I was never scared, worried, nor bothered by the situation. For that, I thank God, my family, and you, my amazing fans.”

And now, with Lil Wayne a free man once again, it’s time to celebrate his freedom, but according to Young Money Records‘ president Mack Maine, and MTV News, Wayne is said to be heading to Miami for a celebration that will take place on Sunday at a strip club.

“Well deserved!!”

Rihanna covers the December 2010 Issue of Marie Claire UK, and if I must say so myself, she looks stunning. In her interview she talks about when she realized it was really over between Chris Brown and herself. She also talks about the new man in her life, Matt Kemp and how she can never seems to stop smiling when she’s with him.

She’s the toast of the music industry and the hottest talent around. Introducing our stunning December cover star, Rihanna. We caught up with the “Rude Boy” superstar to talk about surviving the bad times, learning to love her imperfections, and how she is happier and stronger than ever.

And as she sparkles for the cameras, debuting new fiery red hair (‘she has been dying to go red for years,’ says make-up artist Karen Darnell) you’d certainly never guess it has been such a hard year for Rihanna.

On her on her much publicised romance with Chris Brown.

‘Eventually, I remember waking up one day and I knew I was over it.’

‘One day. I remember I was in New York at the Trump Hotel and I woke up and I just knew I was over it.’

But after coming out of it the other side, the songstress admits she’s a different person now.

On almost losing herself and how she bounced back

‘I was very lost. I have to say I felt really confused,’ she says, her eyes welling up.‘I hate talking about it but it was really crazy because I felt so out of touch with myself and when that happens… It’s scary because nothing you say or do feels like it’s you.

‘You just lose touch of everything that you love and everything that you would normally do; how you would dress or how you would say something… It just feels like it’s not coming from you. It’s just this one empty vase. I felt like an empty vessel.’

On recording with Eminem and how she related it to her own personal life

With all that she’s been through, some critics have questioned her recent appearance on the Eminem single, ‘Love The Way You Lie’ and how, in their view, it glamorises domestic violence. Rihanna has no regrets.

‘He [Eminem] confronted himself on it. He basically gives insight into what goes on in the mind of a couple in a domestically violent relationship. I love that in every verse it just gets to that point where she wants to leave, she wants to leave, she leaves, she leaves, she leaves… but then the hook always comes back’

Did she relate to that on a personal level? ‘Absolutely. Absolutely! Every word in that song is true. It would take somebody who’s been on the inside to understand how magical those lyrics are.

‘Everybody loves the song but the lyrics can never hit home until you’ve seen it, witnessed it, in your home or experienced it yourself.’

On her relationship with Matt Kemp

Despite it all, the drama and the tears, Rihanna is relieved to have finally come out the other side, adding

‘I’m just… I feel like… I smile for real this time.’

I’m so happy for Rihanna. She’s a real inspiration to a lot of young girls. I’m glad she finally set the record straight as to how she felt when she was going through a rough path in the past.

Baby Bump: Mariah Carey Pregnant & It’s A Boy?!

Well, Mariah Carey still hasn’t really confirmed that she’s carrying a baby, but I think at this point, most of us are in agreement – Mariah is knocked up. How far along she is, and the gender of the baby is still in question. Fortunately, there is a very talkative “insider” who ran to Hollywood Life to dish about babies and due dates. Allegedly, Mariah is expecting a boy, and she’s due in March:

Congrats, Mariah! An insider tells HollyBaby.com that the diva and her husband, Nick Cannon, are expecting a son in March next year and are set to announce their happy news very soon!

Mariah Carey is four months pregnant with her first child — a boy! — a source close to the star tells HollyBaby.com. The Grammy award-winning singer and her husband, Nick Cannon, have been tight-lipped about her pregnancy, but she is expected to make an official announcement in the next couple of weeks when she begins promoting her new holiday album, ‘Merry Christmas II You’ (which is being released on Nov. 2).

“She’s having a boy, but the reason that Mariah didn’t want to say anything is because she is 40, and she’s superstitious,” the insider says. “But she’s going to appear on Oprah and The View, so she’s planning on making the announcement soon.”

The insider says that the couple are over the moon about their impending arrival but “they haven’t decided whether they’ll raise the baby in New York or Los Angeles.” They are currently living in Nick’s LA home while renovations are being done on the former Bel Air home of Farrah Fawcett that Mariah bought last year for $7 million. The 11,750 square feet home has five bedrooms — plenty of room for a nursery and a giant closet for Mariah!

Mariah took fertility drugs to get pregnant, according to the insider, who says, “the fertility drugs were the reason for her weight gain earlier this year.” She has also given up drinking alcohol — “she stopped drinking back in March or April this year,” the source says.

While we would have loved to see the Hello Kitty wardrobe that Mariah’s daughter would wear, we’re excited that she’s expecting a little boy — and can’t wait to see her little lamb!

Rihanna and Drake‘s studio hook-up for, “What’s My Name” has arrived for fans’ listening pleasure. Once involved in a brief fling, they get playful again in this track with Drake throwing some lady-loving rhymes and Rihanna baring all he needs to know to be her man.

Rihanna told BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Max in a recent interview:

“Drake is such a cool guy. He is one of my great friends. We actually just did a song together. It’s going to be on my album. The second song, we did another version with him. We may even shoot a video for it. I went out with him Trey and J Cole recently we had a lot of fun.”

Both the original and remixed versions of “What’s My Name” are recorded for Rihannna‘s November 16 album ‘Loud’. A music video for the original song has been filmed last month in New York, but according to a report on Ryan Seacrest’s blog, she will shoot another video possibly with Drake on October 28 for the revamped track.

“I hope we get to shoot a video for that too,” Drake told MTV News. “I’m really excited about that song.”

Chris Brown Reacts….

The newly-revealed song has been all over the web and apparently has been heard by Chris Brown. Despite his ill-fated romance with her, the male R&B performer praised the collaboration. Chris Brown took it to his Twitter to respond to new single “What’s My Name” by saying;

Rihanna releases ‘Loud’ on November 15th.

Spotted: Jay-Z and Beyonce’ Spotted Leaving Club Avenue in New York

Beyonce’ was spotted baring her tummy and rocking shredded long cutoffs and heels while having a night out with Jay-Z on Thursday night. The cute couple left Club Avenue in NYC in the wee hours of the morning. And they hopped in their personal Jeep 4×4 after attending the 1 year Anniversary party of the club.

Music News: Alicia Keys Performs On Good Morning America showing off her Baby Bump!

Alicia Keys, who also revealed she is “right about” five months pregnant proudly showed off her baby bump Friday morning (June 25), while performing on ABC’s Good Morning America. She performed a collection of her new material including her latest single, ‘Unthinkable (I’m Ready)’

In May, UsMagazine.com confirmed that the singer, 29, is expecting and engaged to producer Swizz Beatz. See more photos of the baby bump below.

“They are very happy,” a pal told Us Magazine.

“[Alicia] is with the man who has inspired so much of her music and her album [The Element of Freedom],” another friend told Us of Beatz.

Music News: Is Alicia Keys really pregnant plus engagement to Swizz Beatz Confirmed?!

Random internet gossip sites are ranting that Alicia Keys is pregnant. Pictures of the star performing at a concert in the Netherlands showed the pretty singer with what seemed to be a swollen tummy. The convincing images spread like wildfire over the web causing widespread commotion.

Last year the New Yorker came under fire for starting a relationship with music producer, Swizz Beats who was still, at the time, married to estranged wife, singer Mashonda. News that she may be carrying his child set tongues wagging.  In the midst of the pandemonium, an insider told an American gossip site that Alicia’s camp had started to act shifty.

They said: “They’re saying that she’s decided to take a year off starting in [the fall] for ‘personal reasons’ No one has the [guts] to ask about it. We’ll all know soon enough.”

However, Alicia Keys’ manager, Jeff Robinson has since hit out at the pregnancy claims denying that his client is with child, saying:

“This rumor is 100 percent false. Alicia is currently overseas on tour and will be touring the U.S., Europe and Australia throughout the winter. And she’s using her spare time to continue to raise money and awareness for important causes like HIV/AIDS.” He said.

Today, comes what could be more proof that she is in fact, with child.

The Empire State singer has moved in with her boyfriend Swizz Beatz and has gotten engaged! As they say, first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes…

Congrats are decidedly in order, but there is at least one person who is not happy at the way this relationship is panning out.

Mashonda Deen, Swizz’s ex, is involved in a big messy lawsuit with the producer, partially over $334,000 in child support he hasn’t paid. The 7.5 carat engagement ring now adorning Alicia’s finger cost a large sum and the penthouse they’re staying in clocks in at a cool $14.5 million.

Swizz should pay up what he owes and just get a move on with his new life with Alicia. Even if he does write a check for this wrong, I’m gonna go ahead and say I’m pretty sure Mashonda will not be invited to the wedding.
