Just In: Lil Wayne Tweets His Fans Plus More

As we posted a few days ago that Lil Wayne is now a free man, well just a few hours after his release from Rikers, Wayne reconnected with his fans online.

DJ Scoob was one of the first to snap the first pics of Wayne leaving the facility (shown above) and than posted another photo (shown below) of him smoking a cigar and drinking a glass of what appears to be cognac while staring at a laptop screen.

He tweeted the following…

“aaaaaaahhhhhhmmmmm baaaaakkkkkkkkkk,” tweeted @LilTunechi.

An attorney for Lil Wayne says he’ll travel to Arizona within 72 of his release and fill out documentation to start his 36-month probation term for a separate drug paraphernalia case.

He is scheduled to have a “welcome-back” party in Miami this weekend.

Birdman also revealed on Big Boy’s Morning Show all of Lil Wayne’s plans over the past few days since his release. He gave the run down plans for Wayne’s first day home.

He stated…

“We in the Maybachs going to the hotel for a minute to see the kids then we on the jet after that. Then we gotta go to Arizona  for a minute to check in cause he got a little paperwork out there. After that we gone come to L.A. for a minute then to Miami for this party.”

According to MTV News

Just a day after his release from prison, Lil Wayne is staying on the move.  The rapper touched down in Arizona on Friday (November 5) after jetting from New York hours before for a court appearance. The MC’s motorcade was spotted in Yuma Friday afternoon, where Wayne is expected to sign paperwork in connection with a two-year-old drug arrest.

The superstar lyricist was chauffeured in a Black Ford Excursion as part of a six-car caravan. The vehicles circled the Arizona Superior Court in Yuma County around 1:10 p.m. local time, where several bystanders awaited a glimpse of the MC in 84-degree heat. However, Wayne did not enter the courthouse, and finished his legal business blocks away at the Yuma County Adult Probation center, leaving around 1:45 p.m.

Wayne was picked up on January 22, 2008, at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint where officials claimed Ecstasy, cocaine and a handgun was found on the MC’s tour bus. Weezy copped a plea deal during his eight-month Rikers bid for weapons charges for the Arizona case, and was handed a sentence of community service and three years of unsupervised probation. Wayne was able to skirt additional prison time through the deal and pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a dangerous drug in exchange for the dismissal of three other drug and weapons charges.

“Even though it’s treated as a felony while he’s on probation, if he completes his probation without any violations, the offense will be redesignated as a misdemeanor,” Wayne’s Arizona attorney, James Tilson, told MTV News on Tuesday. The rest of Weezy’s schedule hasn’t been pinned down but the members of the newly freed MC’s camp have hinted he has a jet-setting weekend ahead. Drake has teased a possible Weezy appearance at the final stop of the Toronto lyricist’s Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour in Las Vegas. In addition, Wayne’s ex-wife, Antonia “Toya” Carter, told MTV News an intimate family gathering is in the works in Miami, and Young Money label chief, Mack Maine, gave details of the MC’s blowout bash Sunday night in the Florida city.

“Welcome Home Again Wayne!”

Just In: Lil Wayne Free At Last!

“Free Weezy” t-shirts, No Longer Needed. Lil Wayne has been officially been released from Rikers Island today (November 4th), after serving eight months behind bars following a a gun possession charge in July of 2007.

And what a long, eventful eight months it has been for Wayne as well as us, his fans. Around 8:35AM, representatives confirmed that Lil Wayne was officially released earlier this morning.

Perhaps one of the most eyebrow-raising aspects of Wayne’s jail stint was the fact that he managed to shoot nine music videos in a 48-hour period before heading off to the clink. And once they began to surface, it became apparent that, at times, quality control was of little concern.

The rapper headed to jail on March 8 to begin serving a year-long sentence. But his stay was shortened due to good behavior (hence his early release today).

That’s not to say Weezy didn’t run into a little bit of trouble while he was locked up—he was busted in May for being found with a MP3 player and charger in his possession. Eventually he was punished with a month in “solitary confinement” for the infraction.

In late September Wayne’s ‘I Am Not A Human Being’ album was released digitally. Once the physical CD version hit shelves in October (I made sure to get my copy), the album climbed to #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart. And it’s still in the Top 10, this week sitting at #4.

Often he would post letters to his fans via the website WeezyThanxYou.com. Two days ago, in his final entry, Wayne wrote, “As I greet you all in my last days on this island, I must reflect. I think back to when I first arrived and I had no clue of what I’d be experiencing. I was never scared, worried, nor bothered by the situation. For that, I thank God, my family, and you, my amazing fans.”

And now, with Lil Wayne a free man once again, it’s time to celebrate his freedom, but according to Young Money Records‘ president Mack Maine, and MTV News, Wayne is said to be heading to Miami for a celebration that will take place on Sunday at a strip club.

“Well deserved!!”

Below is a photo that is said to be taken this morning of Wayne leaving NYC’s Rikers Island….

“Welcome back to the music world. You’ve been truly missed.”

Just In: Rikers Correctional Officer Suspended For Trying To Hang Out With Lil Wayne

Wow, it amazes me how people would risk their jobs for someone else or even their own stupidity. Now lets be clear here, Lil Wayne is due to be out of jail come November. This correctional officer from Rikers Island, who was trying to be cool and say that he hung out with Wayne while on job duty, done lost his job. Just a few weeks ago, Wayne was moved to “solitary confinement” for having an MP3 Player and now this.

While Wayne will be out making millions, he’ll be standing in the unemployment line. What a fool!

Check out what the NY Daily News reported:

A veteran Correction Department captain was suspended for hanging out in the star’s cell, the Daily News has learned.

Capt. Raphael Collazzo was caught on a security camera making an unexplained 45-minute visit to the rapper’s cell, which is supposed to be an isolation lockup, sources said.

“We don’t know what he was doing. We know the camera picked him up,” said one source.

Collazzo’s explanation “did not suffice to explain the time he spent” with the rapper, who is serving a one-year sentence for a loaded gun on his tour bus, the source added.

Collazzo was suspended without pay for 10 days, said agency spokeswoman Sharman Stein, who declined to elaborate.

Patrick Ferraiuolo, president of the union for correction captains, said Collazzo has “at least 20 years” on the job, and maintains he didn’t break any rules.

“I spoke to the captain and I said, ‘Do you know what’s going on?’” Ferraiuolo said. “He goes: ‘I have done nothing wrong…I don’t have any dealings with this guy.’”

Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, is expected to be released early next month. His stay on Rikers has been eventful.

Soon after he arrived, a correction officer was canned because she was caught making an unexplained pop-in at the area housing the rapper’s cell.

Correction officials say Amelia Negron got the boot for missing work. Negron claims superiors pressured her into saying she was trying to cozy up to Lil Wayne.

Earlier this month, Lil Wayne was shipped to an isolation cell – known as The Bing – after being caught with forbidden headphones and a charger for an MP3 player.

OMG…SMH!!!

Just In: Rihanna Speaks On Chris Brown and Why She Didn’t Attend Katy Perry’s Wedding

Rihanna on Chris Brown: “I Needed That Wake-Up Call”

More than a year after Chris Brown pled guilty to assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna in February 2009, the 22-year-old singer tells the December issue of Marie Claire UK that she doesn’t regret the traumatic experience.

“God has a crazy way of working, and sometimes when stuff happens you feel like, ‘What did I do to deserve this?’ Why was it backfiring on me?'” she recalls. “But I needed that wake-up call in my life. I needed a turning point, and that’s what God was giving to me.”

At the time, however, Rihanna says it was difficult to go through such a painful relationship in the public eye.

“All this terrible stuff they say to you, it breaks you down,” she says.

“[But] once you’re back on your feet — if you ever make it back on your feet — that’s the ultimate achievement.”

Still, she admits it wasn’t easy to break up with Brown, 21, who later pled guilty to a felony and accepted a plea deal that included more than 1,400 hours for community labor in addition to five years probation.

So how did Rihanna finally find the strength to end the toxic relationship?

“I remember I was in New York at the Trump Hotel and I woke up and I just knew I was over it. It was a different day. I felt different. I didn’t feel lonely,” she recalls. “I felt like I wanted to get up and be in the world. That was a great, great feeling.”

And she hasn’t looked back since.

“I feel like I smile for real this time. The smiles come from inside, and it exudes in everything I do,” she says. “People feel my energy is different. When I smile they can tell that it’s pure bliss and not just a cover up.”

Why Rihanna Skipped BFF Katy Perry’s Wedding

Katy Perry tied the knot with Russell Brand in India over the weekend, she was noticeably short one equally famous gal pal: Rihanna.

One of Perry‘s best friends, Rihanna, 22, was on hand for Perry‘s epic Vegas bachelorette bash in September, but wasn’t among friends and family when Perry, 25, wed Brand, 35, on an Indian tiger reserve on Oct. 23.

Why the no-show?

“Rih was finishing her album, and she just switched managers, so she had to pull out at the last minute,” a source close to the “Only Girl (In the World)” singer explains to UsMagazine.com.

“It was always sort of up in the air that she would go anyway, and Katy knew that,” the source adds. “They saved her a room just in case, but they always knew it would be nearly impossible for her to make it as she’s still finishing the album and it’s out in a few weeks. Rih was in the studio all weekend.”

Perry and Brand exchanged their vows against “the inspirational and majestic countryside of Northern India,” in a ceremony officiated by a Christian minister, according to her rep’s statement. Perry wore an Elie Saab haute couture dress.

The “Firework” singer and the British comic have since flown to the Maldives for their honeymoon.

Rihanna Bought Katy Perry a “Really Cool” Wedding Gift

She may not have been able to attend Katy Perry and Russell Brand‘s wedding in India last weekend, but Rihanna made sure the “Teenage Dream” singer knew she was there in spirit.

“I got her a really, really cool gift,” Rihanna, 22, told Entertainment Tonight Wednesday afternoon. “But I’ll let her tell you about that!”

Though Rihanna said she and Perry continued to text each other prior to the ceremony, she hasn’t heard a peep from her pal since Perry and Brand tied the knot.

“Ever since she’s been there it’s been no text messages because there’s no service,” the “Only Girl (In The World)” singer explained.

Just In: Ryan Leslie Offers $20k for Stolen Laptop

Multi-talented singer/producer Ryan Leslie got his laptop stolen in Germany over the weekend, and he’s offering a big reward of $20,000 to the snitch as Leslie explained in a YouTube video for its return.

Leslie claims the laptop and hard drive were stolen from a black Mercedes parked outside of Loom nightclub in Cologne, Germany, on the night of Oct. 23.

“Last night something very personal, something very special was taken. I’m offering a reward of $20,000,” Leslie explained in a YouTube video. “That reward is really not even close to the value of everything that we lost,” he continued. “I’ve been coming to Germany for like six years. I do it because I love the people here. I love the time that I have here. I love the experience that i have sharing my music with all of you. So last night the tools that I have to share with all of you, the videos i have of all the tours, the memories that we’ve made together, the music that I make, everything is gone, so if you have any information, if you’ve seen anything, if you hear anything, get at me.”

Leslie also took it beyond the video and appealed to his Twitter followers, beseeching fans to help him retrieve the laptop, which apparently was not completely backed up.

“For the record, I had so many amazing music & visual projects on that MacBook that I was working on to share with u this winter,” Leslie revealed.

Just In: The “Green Light” at Cypress Hill ‘SmokeOut’ Festival

Rappers Cypress Hill have scored a coup at their upcoming ‘SmokeOut’ festival in California – the owners of a medical marijuana dispensary will be in business on site.

The group will take the stage alongside MGMT, Incubus and Erykah Badu, among others, at the event in San Bernardino on Saturday, (Oct. 16th), but the live music won’t be the major talking point.

“Peace in Medicine bosses have been given permission to sell pot onsite. Promoter Chang Weisberg tells Spinner.com he’s convinced his festival will lead the way to all major musical events becoming marijuana-friendly sites”.

He says, “It’s not too far from the future right now where you could see responsible 21-and-over use of medical marijuana. If we can harness this particular industry, be a positive advocate and help create policy, this could have a substantial change on my business. That means it will have a big impact for musicians as well.”

Weisberg insists his reputation for organizing trouble-free events in San Bernardino and a medical marijuana expo he staged at last year’s ‘SmokeOut’ helped him land the deal this year.

He adds, “When we reintroduced the ‘SmokeOut’ last year, we brought a medical marijuana expo onsite, and its objective was education, activism and compassion. Cypress and Guerilla Union threw ourselves into an industry to become an active advocate, meaning we did a lot of research and outreach – actually going out and speaking with the leadership and policymakers last year. (It was) definitely a step in the right direction.”

A statement from Cypress Hill reads,

“We see consumption onsite at SmokeOut as a huge step toward protecting and enabling patient rights. It happens far too often where patients are messed with and arrested for possession of less than an ounce of medicine. Here at SmokeOut, our fans can exercise their rights without fear or intimidation. By having safe and compassionate consumption at SmokeOut, we’re hoping to set a viable precedent for music festivals and the community. We hope it inspires others to take that step and help further the movement.”

Just In: Lil Wayne Moved to ‘Solitary Confinement’ at Rikers Island

Lil Wayne is facing the music after being accused of breaking jail rules by having gear for listening to tunes and was relocated Monday into what city jail officials call “punitive segregation” for a month, until his expected November 4th release date at Rikers Island. This punishment—which is the equivalent of ‘solitary confinement’ and requires him to be in his cell 23 hours a day. So he can expect to go solo for the rest of his time behind bars in a gun case.

Correction Department spokesman Stephen Morello said;

“It’s his punishment for stashing a charger and headphones for a digital music player in his cell back in May.”

Wayne generally will now be confined to his new cell 23 hours a day, with such exceptions as visits and showers, instead of being allowed to mingle with other inmates most of the day. He’ll eat in his cell and won’t get to socialize even during his hour a day of recreation, Morello said.

Wayne also will have to forego TV, and he’ll be limited to one phone call a week instead of a chat a day or more, except for calls to his lawyer, Morello said. The lawyer, Stacey Richman, had no immediate comment.

The 28-year-old rapper, one of the genre’s biggest stars, has been held since March in the Rikers Island jail complex. He pleaded guilty in October 2009 to attempted criminal possession of a weapon, admitting he had a loaded semiautomatic gun on his bus in 2007. He got a one-year sentence but is expected to serve eight months because of time off for good behavior, despite the music-player gear episode.

Officials said, “the headphones and charger were found in May, tucked in a potato chip bag in a garbage can in the rapper’s cell”.

The items are considered contraband, as inmates can listen to music only on radios and headphones sold at the jail commissary. Officers said “the music player itself turned up in another inmate’s nearby cell”.

Both men were charged with infractions that weren’t crimes and were subject to a jail disciplinary process, not a court. Information on the other inmate’s punishment wasn’t immediately available Monday.

Lil Wayne’s penalty was within norms for his infraction, Morello said.

“Possession of contraband is serious,” he said, “though not as grave as violent offenses or being caught with a weapon, for example”.

Born Dwayne Carter, Lil Wayne had the best-selling album of 2008 with “Tha Carter III,” which won a Grammy for best rap album.

As he faced incarceration, he told Rolling Stone he planned to keep up the beat behind bars.

“I’ll have an iPod, and I’ll make sure they keep sending me beats,” he told the magazine for a February story.

Sources: Yahoo News, singersroom

“Ok now I know he’s locked up for gun charges, but to get solitary confinement for the rest of his jail time over an iPod situation that happened back in May, is ridiculous! I’m sure he’s glad he’ll be out of there soon. Trust he will welcome us all with some great tunes. Nov. 4th is rapidly approaching…let me not jinx it. Good Luck Wayne!!”

Just In: Bruno Mars Charged!

According to MTV News; Singer/songwriter Bruno Mars is formally charged!

Mars has been charged with felony drug possession, in Las Vegas last month, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The “Just the Way You Are” singer is alleged to have been in possession of 2.6 grams of cocaine after he played a show at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on September 19.

According to Las Vegas police, Mars was taken into custody after a bathroom attendant at the Hard Rock alerted a security guard that a man was spending a lot of time one of the stalls and may have been using drugs. The attendant also said he noticed Mars, born Peter Hernandez, had a “baggy of white powder substance.” When Mars left the stall, the guard made him give up any drugs he may have had and the star produced “a white powder substance, which was consistent with cocaine, from his left-front jeans pocket.” Mars reportedly copped to his bad behavior, telling the guard he “did a foolish thing and has never used drugs before.”

Mars tested positive for cocaine at the time of his arrest and, according to The Associated Press, the star faces up to four years in jail and a $5000 fine if convicted. The singer, who has appeared on chart-rulers such as B.o.B’s “Nothin’ On You” and “Billionaire” by Travie McCoy, is due in court on November 18.

On Friday, Mars’ label Elektra issued a short statement, reading, “We congratulate Bruno Mars on his chart-topping success, and provide him with our full love and support.”

Mars’ debut LP, Doo-Wops & Hooligans drops on Tuesday.

Just In: Busta Rhymes being sued for allegedly throwing a glass

Busta Rhymes is being sued for allegedly throwing a glass at a Los Angeles woman who claims the rapper threw a glass at her at a restaurant in Beverly Hills this summer. According to the RadarOnline.com, Devin Cooper claims that earlier this summer she was eating with another person at Mr. Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills in June, where they were seated at a table next to Busta (real name: Trevor Smith).

She then claims a woman sitting next to the rapper, whom he said was his sister, began yelling at her that she was “too close to their table.” So to avoid conflict, Cooper says she attempted to reposition her chair in response to the woman’s “loud and aggressive” comments but the woman with Busta continued to make comments.

Cooper claims she asked her to please calm down, that is when Busta allegedly began yelling “that’s my sister, that’s my blood!” Cooper claims she tried to carry on with her dinner and ignore Busta‘s increasingly threatening conduct, but claims he later threw a drinking glass at her, missing her by inches.  She says she was “shocked and afraid for her safety” so she and her companion left the restaurant.

Devin Cooper is suing for assault and battery, and is seeking $250,000 in damages.
