Peace Love & Sneaks: Air Jordan V “Cool Greys”

2011 is going to be a big year for Jordan Brand releases.  One of those releases will be this all new Light Graphite / White-Wolf Grey based Air Jordan V Retro 5’s pictured above, which has also been refereed to as the “Cool Greys”.  I’m a huge fan of the 5′s, and trust me as a female, these sneakers are DOPE!! They would go perfect in my closet. The colors will go great with most of my wardrobe, being that the color grey is one of my favorite colors to wear. I feel comfortable when I wear this color. It just suits me you know?

We now have exclusive detail images of what the sneaker looks like at every angle. A soft light grey textured nubuck covers the upper, while hits of wolf grey contrast cleanly throughout the upper. A look inside reveals a white sock liner, as well as a burgundy insole. Down below sits an icy translucent outsole, always a nice touch on any grey-based Air Jordan. Many have mentioned these to be apart of the “Bin 23 Collection”, however there is no “Bin 23” branding anywhere on these.

Below you will see more pictures of the sneaker in full detail courtesy of Modern-Notoriety (in case you couldn’t already tell from their tagged photos…LOL).

Breaking News: Niketown shutdown due to bedbugs!

Niketown the Manhattan flagship store was closed Saturday morning after the nasty bedbugs were discovered inside, the Just Do It corporate announced.

“Our primary concern is the well being of our consumers and sales associates,” Nike said in a brief statement. “We are taking all proper steps to eradicate the problem and we expect the store to reopen shortly.”

The massive five-story outlet on E. 57th St. is home to an assortment of Nike products – from pricey footwear to headbands to T-shirts. The company’s high-profile endorsers include all-time NBA great Michael Jordan, along with Tiger Woods and Derek Jeter. It is also a favorite spot for tourists and shoppers.

Niketown NY is the latest high-profile victim bitten by the tiny bugs. The company’s downtown store on Mercer Street isn’t affected. There were recent infestations at the Empire State Building, the Brooklyn district attorney’s office, and the Time Warner Center. It also joins the ranks of Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, Victoria’s Secret, Google, AMC Empire 25, the Manhattan DA’s office and the Roosevelt Houses.

The creepy crawlers also turned up in the offices of Elle magazine and part of Rikers Island.

A study released last month by the pest control company Terminix ranked New York as the nation’s No. 1 city for bedbug woes.

“It’s one of our most popular stores,” said Nike spokesman Kijuan Wilkins.

NOTES: Jennifer Lopez is soooo back!

American singer and actress Jennifer Lopez graces the cover page of fashion magazine Elle US for the month of February 2010. J-Lo talks about on motherhood, heartbreak, and the future of her career, and revealed that she never considered in vitro fertilization because she’s a traditional woman.

Here are some highlights from her interview.

On why she never considered in vitro fertilization, like her character in The Back-Up Plan: “When it comes to family and relationships, I’m quite traditional. Just because of the way I was raised. And I also believe in God and I have a lot of faith in that, so I just felt like you don’t mess with things like that. And I guess deep down I really felt like either this is not going to happen for me or it is. You know what I mean? And if it is, it will. And if it’s not, it’s not going to.”

On the merit of her romantic comedies:  “I think Maid in Manhattan and Monster-in-Law are very layered movies. And that’s why they’re so successful. People don’t like shitty romantic comedies. Nothing that’s shitty is going to make $100 million.”

On hosting a dinner for Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor: “She didn’t realize what she was going to symbolize. And it’s always scary to be thrown into it–that’s what I felt like when I did Selena. You’re thrown out there, and all of a sudden you’re not anonymous. You are now known. And that’s a lot to handle. It’s scary at first. Then you get used to it. And so she was in that moment of her life where it’s just like, What the hell? Everybody’s clapping for me. People are writing about me, talking about me, I’m on TV. She was just a judge in New York.”

On competing with twenty-something pop idols as a 40-year-old mom: “This is what I do—what, because I have kids and a husband now I’m not supposed to be me? I’m a more heightened me if anything. Hyper J.Lo. Everything I wanted before, I want twice as much now. And that doesn’t mean material things; it means to explore more, to think more. Being an artist doesn’t start because you’re 21, and it doesn’t end because you’re 51. You are who you are until the day you die.”

On betrayal: “This is something I haven’t been through once in my life. This is something I’ve been through a few times in my life. Where you really have your eggs in one basket and that breach happens and you know you should go but you’re still in love and you just don’t know what to do. It hits you because it’s not like you’re a cheater, and a liar, and I hate you, and you’re no good, and I’m leaving. It’s not that. It’s like, I’m tormented. Even though you’ve done this and I know it, I still don’t know what to do. I know I should go, but I don’t want to. And that’s why it’s such a fucked-up thing.”

All On The Cover: Kate Winslet Covers Harper’s Bazaar

Harper’s Bazaar August 2009 issue is covered by Oscar winner, Kate Winslet, photographed by Peter Lindbergh in New York City.

That’s not her first pics for this magazine. During her fashion life she has booked more than 5 various Harper’s Bazaar covers. This is her 6th cover girl photosession for this magazine.

On the cover pic she wears a white wool crepe dress, $1,795, by Michael Kors, Chopard earrings. In the pics where Kate is on the tower above NY she wears Ralph Lauren Collection silk dress $8,000, Cartier Bracelet (left), $3,850, Chopard Bracelet (right).

In the interview she speaks about her parents, Oscar winning, about her weight and style.

About her body:

“I’ve heard, ‘Oh, she’s toned and she’s lost weight,’ but I am exactly the same as I’ve always been. The one thing that had to go during awards season was exercise. People would say to me, ‘Oh, come on …’ like I was lying about it!”

“Some may find it hard to believe it, but I don’t care about that stuff.”

About her favorite beauty products:

Renergie is really, really fantastic. Resolution eye cream — excellent for puffiness! Pink Parfait Magic Blush, which I just love … and Absolute Rouge is spectacular. Sam and I went out to the theater one night, and I double kissed everyone and it didn’t come off!” Pause. “Actually, I don’t double kiss. Just one will do, thank you.”

About being Lancome face:

I really thought, me?” she says. Lest she seem disingenuous, she insists, “Seriously. Because I think what you feel like as a teenager never really goes away. If you were teased for being fat or thin or having bad teeth, you’re always insecure about that particular area of yourself. So I’ve never thought of myself as any kind of beauty, iconic or otherwise.”

About growing up:

The growing-up-fast part weirdly happened between the ages of 15 and 22. When everyone was out getting plastered, I didn’t do all of that. I was working. I was doing life. Now that I look back, I feel very lucky. I’ve never taken drugs, never been offered cocaine. And I’ve done a heck of a lot
of traveling: India, Australia, Morocco, New Zealand. You have to rely on your resources when you’re away; you have to think quickly [and] grow up quickly.”
